Refer to the site and histology-specific instructions in the current CS manual for coding instructions. CoC does not require that registrars report information for this item that is not readily available in the facility's records. However, if that information is obtained along with other material from another source, it may be used.
This field is blank in the melanoma PUF. Use CS Site Specific Factor #1 to obtain Breslow’s depth. CS Tumor Size is part of the Collaborative Stage Data Collection System (CS), and was implemented in 2004. It is used to describe tumor size at diagnosis as an independent prognostic indicator for many tumors and it is used by Collaborative Stage to derive some TNM-T codes. Links to the site-specific codes can be found at http://ncdbpuf.facs.org/?q=node/370.
